Nova University Students Help Members Paint

Students at Nova Southeastern University in Tampa came to Vincent House on Wednesday, April 26th, 2017 to help Vincent House members break the stigma of mental illness in a unique and creative way. The group of Occupational Therapy students wanted to celebrate Occupational Therapy month and Mental Health Awareness Month by helping members paint something they were passionate about. Nova students have toured Vincent House before and that is why they decided to come back for their community service project. While the Nova students painted the letters of Vincent House, the members of Vincent House painted sunsets, abstract pictures, and other things that meant a lot to them. Hannah Bouchey, a Vincent House member, painted music notes which led to a topic of conversation that intrigued a Nova student to join in a musical duet with Hannah. This event brought more than just painting to the members. This event brought two unlikely people together in a connection that was totally unexpected and memorable. Hannah even gave the Nova student one of her paintings. The combined efforts of everyone there led to one final tile mural that represented both Vincent House and Occupational Therapy.
